Poolside Summer Retreat
The opportunity
Donna and Phil gave us a blank canvas backyard on a dual occupancy block and a two-word brief: backyard retreat.
Not a pool with some paving around it. Somewhere private and resolved, that the two of them would actually use.
The opportunity
Dual occupancy footprints are tight, and this one had limited street access on top. On a block like this, the usual path is a parade of separate trades squeezing through a narrow side gate for months, each working to their own plan. That's the mess the brief was quietly asking us to avoid.
What we did
We ran all the major works through the vacant block at the rear instead, which let the whole build move in one clean sequence. The Plungie Original went in first, in ground with the Blue Lagoon ecoFinish, then our landscape team built the space around it as a single design: salt and pepper granite paving with bluestone accents, full height hardwood screens for privacy, planting, Sir Walter Buffalo lawn, integrated lighting and a glass pool fence. One team, so the levels, drainage and finishes all line up.
The outcome
A complete summer retreat in around three months. Donna and Phil's verdict on the finished space: "The best!"
